HLSC Range Use Description

Each HLSC Range is intended for a specific use and typically has firearm caliber restrictions. See the list below for details. Each Range is clearly number with a sign showing its number. Throughout each month there may use restrictions on various dates and times for sanctioned club activities such as Leagues, classes, maintenance or other activities that requre range closures. Always check the Calendar before heading to the HLSC.

Muzzleloader Range:

The HLSC Muzzleloader range is reserved for muzzleloading firearms only. No other type of firearms permitted for use on the Muzzleloader Range.

Outdoor Ranges:

Ranges 1 through 5 are open for use by HLSC Members and their guests. Ranges 6 through 10 are reserved for HLSC League or special event use only. See below for more details.

• Range 1
  • 22LR (22 Long Rifle) Rimfire only.
    • ***NO OTHER CALIBER PERMITTED***
• Range 2
  • Any firearm type or caliber permitted for use at the HLSC
    • Shotguns: ***SLUGS ONLY***
    • Chronographs are permitted on Range 2 only.
  • Crossbows permitted – crossbow specific targets are on carts under the Range 2 shelter area.
• Range 3
  • Handguns/Pistols and Pistol Caliber Carbines (PCCs)
    • ***NO MAGNUM LOADS FIRED ON STEEL PLATES***
    • Magnum loads may be fired on Range 3 at paper targets on the wood backboards.
• Range 4
  • Shotgun pattern testing.
    • Shooters must bring their own cardboard for pattern testing.
• Range 5
  • Handguns/Pistols and Pistol Caliber Carbines (PCCs)
  • ***NO MAGNUM LOADS FIRED ON STEEL PLATES***
  • Action Pistol League use during the Action Pistol League Season.
• Range 6
  • Reserved for league and training range use only.
• Range 7
  • Reserved for league and training range use only.
• Range 8
  • Reserved for league and training range use only.
• Range 9
  • Reserved for league and training range use only.
• Range 10
  • Reserved for league and training range use only.

Indoor Ranges:

The HLSC Clubhouse has 2 indoor Shooting Ranges and an indoor Archery Range available to members 24/7 with the exception of sanctioned club activities as described above. When using the Indoor Shooting Ranges, be sure to follow the posted instructions for the blower ventilation system posted inside the door of Range 2.

  • Handguns/Pistols and Pistol Caliber Carbines (PCCs)
    • No shotguns or shot shells
    • No blackpowder loads.
  • All ammunition – ***1600 FPS MAX VELOCITY***
• Archery Range
  • Compound or Longbows are used on the large foam arrow stop targets.
  • Crossbows may be used on the Crossbow target ONLY.
• Field Points only ***NO BROADHEAD ARROWS ON INDOOR ARCHERY TARGETS***
