5X5 Concealed Carry Self Qualifier

5X5 Concealed Carry Self Qualifier

General Information:

The 5×5 Concealed Carry Self-Qualifier is a practice and training session that takes place at the club’s Indoor Range #2. This is a training and practice event where shooters work to improve their defensive shooting skills. The Course of Fire varies from session to session – sometimes shooters will be tasked with shooting in the dark holding a flashlight, other times shooters may be tasked with shooting offhand from behind simulated cover. This event is presently supervised by Member Tom Gregory, who is an experienced shooter, RSO, and ex-law enforcement officer. He observes the shooter and can provide guidance and instruction if the shooter so desires.

Details:

After receiving commands from the RSO and the signal from the shot timer, shooters must draw their firearm from concealment and fire 5 shots, hitting inside a 5 inch circle target, from 5 yards, in 5 seconds or less. Shooters may also simulate drawing from a nightstand as opposed to a concealed holster if so desired.

The purpose of this match is purely training and practice – shooters are only “competing” with themselves.

This event is open to Members and their guests. The event fee is $2.00 per firearm.

Permitted Firearms:

The purpose of this event is for Self Defense training and practice. Shooters are recommended to use their everyday carry pistol and draw it from their concealed carry holster. Shooters are occasionally asked to use some of those “expensive carry rounds” to make sure their pistol will reliably fire them should the need ever arise. Race Guns, Target Pistols, and other non-concealable firearms are not recommended for this event.
