2023 TUT Raffle Winner

The winning ticket was sold at our Tip up Town Tent on Saturday, Jan 21st., probably between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm, in the 3rd 5-pack (of 65) sold that day.

That means the winning ticket sellers were Mary Reed and David Unger.

2023 Winter Raffle Winner, Sean Croff

“I’d like to send a HUGE thank you to the Houghton Lake Sportsmen’s Club for putting together such a great ice fishing package for raffle at Tip Up Town. When Mark contacted me to let me know I had won, I was totally shocked! I told him that ironically, when I approached your booth to buy the tickets I told the kind lady selling them to just take my money as a donation for a great cause. Luckily… she insisted that I fill out the ticket stubs because “you never know.” Jokingly I said, then you don’t know me too well, but I guess she was right!!!
That being said, I can assure you that all the gear will be going to great use, not only on Houghton Lake, but many others around the state. I’m a combat wounded/disabled veteran and as of late, I’ve not been able to do much ice fishing because my shanty got a hole in it a few years back. This pretty much halted my ice fishing ability, because the cold temps out on the ice don’t agree with the injuries I sustained. This prize changes all that, and has renewed my excitement in being able to fish year round again!
To close, having presided over a few different non-profit organizations; I know how much work goes into putting something like this together. From getting vendor donations, setting up booths, state licensing, prize presentations, and ensuring IRS compliance, it’s no easy task and often thankless work.
So if nothing else, I THANK YOU; and wish your organization many years of continued success! If I ever catch anyone admiring my new gear I’ll be sure to let them know where I got it from!
With Appreciation, Sean Croff”

It is always nice to hear how much someone appreciated having been drawn as the winner, and excited he is about the prize package.

Congratulations to Mr. Croff and we thank him for his service to and sacrifices for our country.

Thank you as well to Member Mark Keyser for all of his time, effort and hard work he puts in to managing and making the HLSC Raffles a huge success. Finally,  we thank Kurt at Lyman’s on the Lake for their continued support of the HLSC.
